PFAS and total fluorine analysis in your substances

Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) have come into focus internationally due to their widespread presence in the environment.

To drastically reduce the release of PFAS into the environment, there are already existing regulations of individual substances in the EU REACH Regulation, EU POP Regulation and the international Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.

In addition, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published a restriction proposal on the manufacture, use and placing on the market (including import) of the entire group of substances (at least 10,000 PFAS) in early 2023.

You want to be sure that your products do not contain PFAS and that existing and new restrictions are respected?

a) PFAS analysis in your products (solids and aqueous matrices)

  1. Analysis for the determination of total fluorine: This is based on the limits of the published ECHA restriction proposal. Benefit from our expertise in analysis by Combustion Ion Chromatography (CIC) also for solids such as polymers:
  2. Analysis for the determination of specific PFAS: Use the existing method by LC-MS/MS, which convinces by its high selectivity and sensitivity. On request, we can also extend the method to analyze other specific PFAS for you.
  3. Risk assessment incl. modeling of existing analytical data by our consultants.

This means certainty for you regarding a possible restriction of PFAS in your substances (also mixtures and articles). With our analytical data, you can make informed decisions when it comes to risk assessment of your products and supply chains.

Contact us! We are looking forward to your inquiry.

b) PFAS analysis in water (wastewater, surface water)

Our team of experts for environmental analysis is specialized in the analysis of PFAS in wastewater and has many years of experience. We use state-of-the-art analytical technology and validated analytical methods to determine the presence and content of PFAS in your samples. In doing so, we are guided by existing restrictions, such as the Guideline for the Evaluation of PFAS of the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, and actively participate in the development of new analytical methods within the framework of committee work.

Currently, we offer the determination of 13 PFAS in wastewater. In addition, we are expanding our analytical method to include further PFAS based on the components listed by the EPA and UBA.

Please contact us! We will be pleased to answer your questions.
